OUR COMMITEEE

Our committee is dedicated to deepening the understanding and appreciation of the sacraments within our community. We work together to organize educational events, provide resources, and support parishioners in their faith journey.

The Finance Committee provides financial analysis, advice, and oversight of the organisations budget. Their sole responsibility is to ensure the parish is operating with the financial resources it needs to provide services to the community.

Meeting Schedule

The committee meets every first Saturday of the month at 9:00am. From time to time, the

committee convenes for planning meetings.

Role of the Finance Committee
  • Ensure that accurate and complete financial records are maintained
  • Monitor income and expenditures against projections
  • Review and recommend financial policies to the executive, including ensuring adequate internal controls and maintaining financial records in accordance with standard accounting practices.
  • Ensure that accurate, timely, and meaningful financial statements are prepared and presented to the executive
  • Oversee budget preparation and financial planning
  • Ensure that the budget accurately reflects the needs, expenses, and revenue of the parish
  • Safeguard the organisations assets
  • Review proposed new funding for ongoing financial implications, recommending approval or disapproval to the board
  • Ensure that the parish has the proper risk-management provisions in place
  • Ensure that the executive and council committees are well informed about the parish’s finances
  • Educate the executive about financial matters

The role of the development committee is to ensure that the parish’s total development program is in concert with the organization’s strategic direction and needs. The committee serves as the mechanism by which board members and other volunteers are involved in the fundraising process.

The development committee is charged with focusing the organization and its board on fundraising. This includes constant attention to the strength of the mission and case for support, the organization’s accountability, the involvement of constituencies with the institution, the resources required to carry out the mission, plans for soliciting the needed funds, fundraising involvement, and the demonstration of good stewardship.

The Development Committee has responsibility for:

Involving and motivating parishioners and volunteers in fundraising of funds.

Setting policies, priorities, and goals for fund-raising programs for current fiscal year.

Reviewing the ongoing performance of each campaign.

Identifying and rating all major prospects for support.

Helping to develop strategies for involvement and cultivation of major fund prospects.

Demonstrating leadership in fundraising at all levels.

Investigating new resource development projects, activities and ideas for use in the future.

Annually evaluating the work of the committee and the objectives it has committed itself to andreports information to the executive.

Engaging in and discussing strategies for community action and the “Culture of Philanthropy.”

The role of a council member

Generally, the council committee includes all leaders of the departments, who include the Heads of Department and their leadership. Council members do not have any authority to act or make decisions as individuals. They are members of an elected body that makes decisions on behalf of the parishioners through a formal meeting process.

Providing leadership and guidance to the community

Putting forward options and presenting arguments or possible solutions to problems at council meetings.

Developing a vision for the community and deciding what needs to be done to achieve that vision.

Facilitating communication between the community and the council

Attending council meetings

Being available and responding to residents who wish to raise issues or concerns;

Assessing and evaluating community needs;

The executive committee is composed of elected executive leaders and acts as a steering committee for the council committee. It includes only the Chairpersons of Departments. These make decisions on behalf of the council members.

Role of the Executive Committee

It ensures that the parish carries out its mission and achieves its objectives.

It oversees the parish’s operations, sets policies, makes major decisions for the parish, and is responsible for the parish’s activities.

It facilitates decision-making in urgent and crisis circumstances.

It has the power to act on behalf of the council committee.

It is responsible for overseeing parish policies, and must ensure good governance practices.
